At the inauguration ceremony of the China Environmental Protection Foundation-Marine Environment Protection Fund, Ms. Liu Wenyan, Chairman of Milan Gold, delivered a speech: “A cup of good coffee can bring people joy, but do you know how much of it is water? 98% We don’t only care about water preservation because we are in this industry, we were also moved by the way these young passionate team members competed in the Bohai Race, and the way they used their business acumen to assist in protecting marine environments. The world has opened up and China’s attitude toward marine environmental protection has influenced the international community’s perception of China and the Chinese people. As a Chinese enterprise, we benefit from the rapid economic development of the motherland, which is letting our generation, including our established brands, experience what it took developed countries generations to build. As a responsible Chinese company, we should be thankful for this land, and give back to the nation according to our abilities. We hope that through our efforts, we can serve the Chinese environmental protection foundation, and thereby contribute to environmental protection in China, and promote the Bohai Race. Finally, we hope the 2017 Bohai Race will be an outstanding success!”

As the first cooperation project between the China Environmental Protection Foundation and the Marine Environment Protection Fund, “YOU & ME FUTURE” (you and I have a future) is the theme of this round of the Bohai Race. The theme revolves around marine environment protection and offline charity activities, etc. Through the "Marine Environmental Photography Contest" and "Marine Environmental Public Welfare Auction" and other activities, these foundations collaborate with partners such as Milan Gold to initiate activities on the theme of marine environment protection and public welfare. They contribute greatly to China's marine environment protection.

The Bohai Race is the largest and longest-running top sailing event in Northern China, and lasts from August 13 to August 20. The event has grown bigger over the years. The race starts in Dongdaihe and ends at Xinghai Bay in Dalian. Over 9 days and 7 cities, the total distance is more than 400 nautical miles. The competition is presented as a combination of "Rally + Ground Race". The race boat specifications have been upgraded to include 40+ foot ships. As a national A-class event, the organizing committee ensures that the event runs smoothly. Everything, from the selection of the teams, the invitation of the referees, the organization of the competition, the survey of the waterway route, and the logistical support, is all top-notch. At the same time, the final in-port competition is broadcast live, with live commentary through VR and live broadcasting platforms, which further enhances the interactivity of the event.

In the backdrop of the national “The Belt and Road” initiative, the Bohai Race is in line with the sea development strategy. Through these sailing events, more people learn about maritime and sailing culture. They also promote tourism to the cities along the route. The Bohai Race has played a leading role in building positive publicity for these cities.
